Basketball Game Preview: Adobe Mountain vs. Gila Bend Gila Monsters

Adobe Mountain and the Gila Bend Gila Monsters will compete for holiday cheer at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Adobe Mountain has four straight wins, Gila Bend has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Adobe Mountain is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Maricopa Institute of Technology 80-28 last Wednesday. With Adobe Mountain ahead 46-23 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 68-32, which was the final score in Gila Bend's tilt against Ridgeline Academy on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Gila Monsters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Eagles are ranked 79th).

Gila Bend's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Adobe Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Adobe Mountain was able to grind out a solid win over Gila Bend when the teams last played back in November, winning 54-44. Will Adobe Mountain repeat their success, or does Gila Bend have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
