Basketball Recap: Bismarck Comes Up Short

Bismarck was the 69-19 winner over St. Paul Lutheran when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 68-67 to the Giants. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Bismarck still got an impressive performance from August Martinez, who almost dropped a triple-double with 33 points, 12 rebounds, and nine blocks. Martinez has become a key player for the Indians: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least five blocks, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Austin Dunlap, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards.

Bismarck's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Bismarck will take on Bourbon in a tournament on Saturday. As for St. Paul Lutheran, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Eagle Ridge Christian at 6:00 p.m. on the 12th.
