Rustburg is 8-2 against Heritage since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rustburg Red Devils will challenge the Heritage Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Rustburg came up short against Liberty Christian on Tuesday, falling 56-34. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 69th).

Rustburg's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Haven Grinstead, who posted 14 points and six boards, and Samiyah Jackson, who put up eight points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Heritage was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 41-37 to Glass.

Heritage has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Rustburg, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Rustburg didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Heritage in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 38-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rustburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
