Baseball Recap: Lockney Comes Up Short

If Lockney was feeling good fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Quanah last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Longhorns fell just short of the Wellington Skyrockets by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The match marked the Longhorns' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Dyllan Thiebaud put in work no matter where he played. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Xavier Jimenez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Lockney's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Wellington, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-5.
