Basketball Game Preview: Woods Charter Wolves vs. Seaforth Hawks

The Woods Charter Wolves are taking a road trip to take on the Seaforth Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Seaforth took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Woods Charter, who comes in off a win.

Woods Charter will head into Monday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 41) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 victory over Excelsior Classical Academy.

Woods Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Levi Haygood led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds gave Haygood a new career-high. Alden Phelps was another key player, going 5 for 12 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Woods Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Seaforth's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Chatham Central by a score of 53-51.

Woods Charter's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two points across that stretch. As for Seaforth, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-4.
