Baseball Recap: Liberty Falls Short Against Ranked Faith Lutheran

On Wednesday, Liberty faced Faith Lutheran in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Liberty Patriots fell 9-5 to the Faith Lutheran Crusaders. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Crusaders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Liberty got a good showing from Cole Diaz, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Joey Maxwell stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cole Neilson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Faith Lutheran, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

While Liberty had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
