Softball Recap: Northwestern Trojans vs. Fort Mill Yellow Jackets
If Northwestern was riding high fresh off their 15-0 takedown of South Pointe last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Trojans took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 back in March.
Charlie Pendergraph made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Jo Schmidt was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Northwestern's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Fort Mill, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.
Looking ahead, Northwestern will face off against Clover at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Mill, they will challenge Chester at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets will need to watch out since the Cyclones have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
