Volleyball Recap: Elgin Comes Up Short

Elgin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Streamwood Sabres. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Sabres this season, with their most recent loss being a 2-0 defeat back in April.

Elgin started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-28, 25-12, 25-16.

Elgin's loss dropped their record down to 7-23. As for Streamwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Elgin will take on Fenton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Streamwood, they will challenge West Chicago at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
