Baseball Game Preview: Encinal Jets vs. Berkeley Yellowjackets

Encinal hasn't had much luck against Berkeley recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Jets will square off against the Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. Encinal is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Encinal had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt College Prep on Wednesday. The Jets were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Cougars.

Shaun Presley was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Oskar Jones was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Meanwhile, Berkeley didn't have quite enough to beat Encinal on Tuesday and fell 5-4.

Quinton Hill was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Mays, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Encinal's win bumped their record up to 15-8. As for Berkeley, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Encinal skirted past Berkeley 5-4 when the teams last played on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
