Softball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Central had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 5-16 to make it four. They came up short against the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Lakers, falling 20-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-6 on Thursday.

Emma Krohn was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Libby Hoen was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games.

On Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted's side, Faith Mallak was a standout: she fired off four doubles, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. Those four doubles gave Mallak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Cardinal, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.

As of now, neither Central nor Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted have any future games scheduled.
