Baseball Recap: Platte Valley Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Platte Valley was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They fell just short of the Valley Vikings by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 back in April.

Hazen Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Platte Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Platte Valley will welcome Forge Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Fury will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Valley, they will be playing at home against Weld Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rebels have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.52 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
