Basketball Recap: South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Comes Up Short

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] lost against Cheyenne Wells back in December of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] Patriots were outmatched by the Cheyenne Wells Tigers and fell 54-27. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 207th, while the Tigers are ranked 100th).

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett]'s defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sarah Elmore, who posted nine points in addition to six steals and five boards, and Abigail Anderson, who put up six points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Elmore has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.

Paige Ryser was her usual excellent self, going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and six steals for Cheyenne Wells. The team also got some help courtesy of Roxy Unruh, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 11 points.

This is the second loss in a row for South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Cheyenne Wells, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.

South Baca [Campo/Vilas/Pritchett] didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-37 win against Crowley County on the 1st. Cheyenne Wells has also already played their next contest, a 46-35 loss against Hi-Plains on the 1st.
