Preview: St. Martin Yellow Jackets vs. Biloxi Indians
St. Martin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Biloxi Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
St. Martin posted their biggest victory since November 18, 2023 on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 57-10 victory over Ocean Springs. Given St. Martin's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Ocean Springs is ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, everything went Biloxi's way against D'Iberville on Friday as Biloxi made off with a 58-34 win.
Aaliyah Davison and Zaniya Johnson were among the main playmakers for Biloxi as the former scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amari Merideth, who scored seven points along with four steals.
St. Martin pushed their record up to 19-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.33 points. As for Biloxi, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
St. Martin couldn't quite finish off Biloxi in their previous meeting two weeks ago and fell 31-29. Can St. Martin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
