Basketball Game Preview: Reed-Custer Comets vs. Herscher Tigers

The Reed-Custer Comets will head out to take on the Herscher Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Monday, Reed-Custer came up short against Wilmington and fell 36-28. The Comets have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Reed-Custer got top-tier performance from Alyssa Wollenzien, who posted 19 points and seven steals. Wollenzien's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 19 points. Harlie Liebermann also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Herscher). They put the hurt on Grace Christian Academy with a sharp 50-26 victory on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Reed-Custer's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Herscher, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 4-2.

Reed-Custer strolled past Herscher in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 42-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
