Basketball Recap: Avalon Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Avalon had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Southern Maryland Christian Academy Mustangs out 73-70. This was a revenge game for the Black Knights: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in January, they had to take a 69-55 defeat.

Avalon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Fox led the charge by going 8-for-13 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Fox now owns an excellent 45.2% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Luke Arulefela, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points.

Avalon pushed their record up to 13-9 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games. As for Southern Maryland Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-9 record this season.

Avalon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 82-68 win against King's Christian Academy on the 14th. As for Southern Maryland Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-24 victory against Calverton on the 14th.
