Mitchell has no trouble against Arvada

The Mitchell Tigers's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 48-30 win over Arvada. That's another feather in the cap for Mitchell, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Mitchell found their leader in underclassman Addy Bowlin, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bowlin has scored at least 25% of Mitchell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Pieper, who scored 15 points along with 7 steals.

When it comes to explaining why Arvada lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Ngewasi. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with 4 steals. Ngewasi scored a full 46.7% of Arvada's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Arvada struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mitchell pulled down 16.

The win got Mitchell back to even at 1-1. As for Arvada, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Mitchell will take on Big Horn at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Arvada, they will head out on the road to face off against Burns at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Burns presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Arvada in their respective states (Burns is ranked tenth in Wyoming, while Arvada is ranked 223rd in Colorado).
