Softball Game Preview: Mingus Marauders vs. Flagstaff Eagles

For the second straight game, Mingus will face off against Flagstaff. Mingus is taking a road trip to square off against Flagstaff at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Mingus has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Mingus is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They lost 13-2 to Flagstaff.

For Flagstaff's part, Cailee Culwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Culwell was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Flagstaff let Mayla Speer and Tatum Alex run wild. Speer scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Alex scored a run while going 2-for-3. Alex also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Sydney Fowler was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Flagstaff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Flagstaff's record is now 4-5-1. As for Mingus, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
