Softball Game Preview: Hopkinsville Tigers vs. Muhlenberg County Mustangs

The Hopkinsville Tigers will take on the Muhlenberg County Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopkinsville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Hopkinsville barely beat Trigg County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Wildcats 16-4 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 11 contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Muhlenberg County fell victim to Caldwell County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Tigers, falling 7-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Mustangs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Hopkinsville's victory was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games. As for Muhlenberg County, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.

Everything went Hopkinsville's way against Muhlenberg County in their previous matchup back in April, as Hopkinsville made off with a 19-0 victory. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
