Basketball Game Preview: Oelwein Huskies vs. Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings

Oelwein hasn't had much luck against Vinton-Shellsburg recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Oelwein Huskies are taking a road trip to take on the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Oelwein is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 66-46 to Columbus.

Meanwhile, Vinton-Shellsburg came up short against Benton on Tuesday and fell 62-52. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Vikings came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Bobcats are ranked 134th).

Oelwein's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Vinton-Shellsburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Oelwein strolled past Vinton-Shellsburg in their previous matchup back in February by a score of 58-41. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oelwein since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
