Baseball Recap: Wheaton Academy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Wheaton Academy entered their tilt with Harvest Christian Academy on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Lions. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 10-4 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Bryce Legel tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dom Murrell, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Brandon Kiebles was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Wheaton Academy pushed their record up to 19-14 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Harvest Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-12.

Looking ahead, Wheaton Academy will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Taft at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. Harvest Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
