Basketball Recap: Montverde Academy's Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Montverde Academy put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Dr. Phillips Panthers 71-43. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Leading Montverde Academy to victory were Aaliyah Crump and Saniyah Hall. Crump posted 15 points in addition to eight assists and four steals, while Hall had 20 points and five boards. The contest was Hall's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaia Jackson, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.

Montverde Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Dr. Phillips, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Montverde Academy will take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Montverde Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully St. Thomas Aquinas likes a good challenge. As for Dr. Phillips, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Dr. Phillips Panthers challenge the Cardinal Mooney Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
