Basketball Recap: Gibault Catholic Takes a Loss

Gibault Catholic was the 46-44 winner over Roxana when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Gibault Catholic Hawks received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 52-35 to the Roxana Shells. That's two games in a row now that the Hawks have lost by exactly 17 points.

When it comes to explaining why Gibault Catholic lost, don't look at Karmon Grohmann. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 11 on her way to 18 points and three steals. Grohmann has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maggie Altes, who posted two points and six boards.

Gibault Catholic has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season. As for Roxana, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Gibault Catholic has already played their next contest (against Steeleville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Roxana and Freeburg will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played.
