Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Torres Toros

For the second straight game, Roosevelt will face off against Torres. The Rough Riders will be playing at home against the Toros at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Roosevelt made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Torres, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rough Riders blew past the Toros 10-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Rough Riders, who have now won six matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Xamuel Cerrato and David Meza were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cerrato pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Meza didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. At the plate, Cerrato went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Meza scored a run while going 2-for-5. Those hits marked the first that Cerrato got this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Manny Molano, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Roberson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Torres is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11. As for Roosevelt, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-6-1.
