Baseball Recap: Crosbyton Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Crosbyton came out on top against Petersburg on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Chiefs put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 10-4 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-11 on April 7th.

Miah Marquez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Nolan Salazar was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Crosbyton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Michael Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Crosbyton's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Petersburg, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Coming up, Crosbyton will take on Lubbock T at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs are facing the Titans at the right time seeing as the Titans are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Petersburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Springlake-Earth at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.06 runs per game on average), something the Buffaloes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
