Football Recap: Orion Suttle Key Part of Team Effort in Bulldogs Win + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portola). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 24-21 victory over the Beckman Patriots on Friday. For the Bulldogs, this counts as revenge for the 20-7 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Portola's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Orion Suttle, who rushed for 25 yards and one TD, and also threw for 82 yards and one touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes. The Bulldogs also got a significant boost from Timothy Grettenberg, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Despite the loss, Beckman still got an impressive performance from Makhi Czaykowski, who rushed for 120 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 45 receiving yards. Czaykowski's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

The victory got Portola back to even at 2-2. As for Beckman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Portola wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 22-14 loss against Northwood on the 19th. As for Beckman, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 35-14 win against Woodbridge on the 19th.
