Softball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

Chaparral was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 20-14 to the Tornillo Coyotes. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lobos of the 24-8 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Abrianna Moreno made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Melenie Rincon, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Chaparral's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Tornillo, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Chaparral has already played their next matchup, a 12-3 loss against Austin on the 14th. As for Tornillo, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-4 defeat against Bowie on the 14th.
