Basketball Recap: Middletown Comes Up Short

Middletown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a hard 44-29 fall against the Bristol Eastern Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Dragons of the 51-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Middletown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rielle Jackson posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Birdsey, who put up six points.

Middletown's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Bristol Eastern, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.

Middletown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 34-32 victory against Platt on the 27th. Bristol Eastern has also already played their next contest, a 67-33 win against Farmington on the 27th.
