University Prep and Silver Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Jaguars will venture away from home to take on the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. University Prep has given up an average of 57.3 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, University Prep didn't have quite enough to beat Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy and fell 56-54. The Jaguars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Silver Valley waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Fighting Lancers by a score of 68-57. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while the Fighting Lancers are ranked 935th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

University Prep better keep an eye on Judah Caldwell. He was instrumental in Silver Valley's win, dropping a double-double with 31 points and 16 boards. Those 16 rebounds gave Caldwell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Javion Taylor, who shot 86% from the field en route to 13 points and six boards.

Silver Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

University Prep's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Silver Valley, their record now sits at 5-2.

University Prep took a serious blow against Silver Valley in their previous meeting back in January, falling 75-32. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Jaguars were down 37-15.
