Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Apaches vs. Elida Bulldogs

The Fairview Apaches will head out on the road to face off against the Elida Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Fairview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

On Friday, Fairview was able to grind out a solid win over Edon, taking the game 7-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Apaches.

Cash King looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jesse Coolman, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Shady Fritch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Elida suffered their biggest loss since May 2, 2024 on Friday. They lost 10-0 to Defiance. The defeat continues a trend for Elida in their meetings with Defiance: they've now lost five in a row.

Fairview's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Elida, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Everything went Fairview's way against Elida in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, as Fairview made off with a 12-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
