Softball Preview: Mays Meets Therrell

The Mays Raiders will square off against the Therrell Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mays came up short against Sandy Creek on Saturday, falling 12-2.

Mays saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laila Harden, who went a perfect 1-for-1 while posting 1 run.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last matchup, Therrell made sure to put some runs up on the board against KIPP Atlanta Collegiate on Tuesday. The Panthers put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 15-2 win. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

MARIAH WOOLRIDGE was a standout: she went 1-for-3 while logging 5 stolen bases, 2 runs, and 1 walk. The team also got some help from AMIRA LEE, who went 2-for-3 while posting 5 stolen bases, 2 runs, and 1 double.

Therrell hit smart and finished the game with only three strikeouts. They have not posted that few strikeouts since the 8th, when they also struck out three times.

Mays' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Therrell, they are now 8-10, having gone 3-1 since their six-game losing streak ended.
