Southside Christian had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Powdersville Patriots 8-2 on Saturday. Considering the Sabres have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Will Cauthen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Southside Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Powdersville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season.
