Softball Recap: Poly Gets the Win

On ThursdayPoly's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bears have posted since April 3, 2024.

Madyson Granillo looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Karly Romero, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Emma Figueroa was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Poly lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matches.

Poly's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Murrieta Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Poly has already played their next game, a 5-1 loss against La Mirada on the 20th. As for Murrieta Valley, they will square off against Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
