Ava Grady made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addyson Cunningham, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since April 3rd. Taelor Holt was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Glacier kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Big Sky earned a 5-2 win over Flathead on Tuesday.
Sara Bjornson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, Hailey Nicoson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Big Sky's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Glacier, their win bumped their record up to an identical 9-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glacier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .394. However, it's not like Big Sky struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Glacier was able to grind out a solid victory over Big Sky in their previous meeting on April 3rd, winning 12-9. Do the Wolfpack have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
