Recap: Craigmont Chiefs vs. Overton Wolverines
The Craigmont Chiefs lost against the Overton Wolverines last Friday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Craigmont was beaten by Overton 49-16. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Craigmont in their matchups with Overton: they've now lost four in a row.
Overton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexandria Clemmons, who scored 14 points along with six steals. Clemmons has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Jasmin Russaw was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three steals.
Craigmont's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Overton, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Craigmont and Raleigh-Egypt will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Raleigh-Egypt is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Overton will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on White Station at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
