Recap: La Veta Redhawks vs. Centennial Rams
The La Veta Redhawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Centennial 59-25 at home. With La Veta ahead 32-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Leading La Veta to victory were Jaiden Goemmer and Aspen Autry. Goemmer almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 13 rebounds, and nine blocks, while Autry scored 29 points along with nine steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Autry has scored at least 25% of La Veta's points. Another player making a difference was Callista Traynor, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
La Veta pushed their record up to 3-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Centennial, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Veta will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Granada at 2:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sargent at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Hopefully Sargent focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
