Poway and Mater Dei Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Poway Titans will head out to face off against the Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Poway will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Poway took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Aliso Niguel get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei Catholic made easy work of La Costa Canyon on Wednesday and carried off an 8-0 victory. The Crusaders have beaten the Mavericks the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Mavericks has come to flipping the script.

Mater Dei Catholic let Gianna 'Gigi' Flores and Bella Harris run wild. Flores scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Harris scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Harris a new career-high. Maya Matthies also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Mater Dei Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Costa Canyon only managed two hits.

Mater Dei Catholic's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Poway, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Poway was able to grind out a solid win over Mater Dei Catholic when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Poway since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
