Football Recap: Hampden Takes a Loss

Hampden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Greely Rangers, falling 62-7. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine football rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Rangers are ranked fifth).

Gavin Monyok threw for 65 yards on six of 17 attempts. Trey Collier was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Gabriel Thornwall rushed for 30 yards.

Hampden's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Greely, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Hampden wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 20-13 defeat against John Bapst Memorial on the 24th. As for Greely, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 30-16 victory against Oceanside on the 24th.
