Basketball Recap: Southside Takes a Loss

Southside lost against Southwest Legacy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southside Cardinals were outmatched by the Southwest Legacy Titans and fell 78-35. The Cardinals were down 54-28 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Giovanni Aranda was his usual excellent self, going 11 of 19 on his way to 27 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals for Southwest Legacy. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Gomez, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 11 points.

Southside's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-22. As for Southwest Legacy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-17 record this season.

Coming up, Southside will be playing at home against Jay at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jay will roll in looking for their 17th straight win, something Southside surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwest Legacy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Harlandale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Harlandale's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
