Basketball Recap: Emanuel County Institute Takes a Loss

Emanuel County Institute was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. 2025 welcomed they with a 57-31 loss courtesy of the Bryan County Redskins. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Redskins are ranked 116th).

It was another big night for Jasmine Mikell, who went 10 of 18 on her way to 25 points and four steals for Bryan County. Mikell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 32 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashanti Brown, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Emanuel County Institute now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Bryan County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Emanuel County Institute didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 34-26 loss against Portal on the 4th. As for Bryan County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-14 victory against Jenkins County on the 7th.
