Basketball Recap: Glenwood Comes Up Short

Glenwood lost against Green on January 13th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Glenwood Tigers took a blow against the Green Bobcats, falling 64-31. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 651st, while the Bobcats are ranked 226th).

Green found their leader in sophomore Abbie Knapp, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 20 rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Knapp has scored at least a third of Green's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matti Hayslip, who posted 14 points.

This is the second loss in a row for Glenwood and nudges their season record down to 6-10. As for Green, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenwood will challenge Greenup County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glenwood is facing Greenup County at the right time seeing as Greenup County is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Green, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Green Bobcats take on the Clay Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Green is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55 points per game this season.
