Softball Recap: Frontier Comes Up Short

Frontier extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-5. They came up short against the West Lafayette Red Devils, falling 24-6. The Falcons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Devils from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Lillie Jaynes and Sarah Trapp did some serious damage despite the final result: Jaynes went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Trapp went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Trapp has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Addi Govert, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

As for West Lafayette, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

On West Lafayette's side, they got a massive performance out of Paola Eifler, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those five hits gave Eifler a new career-high. Cam Wallace also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Frontier didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-5 loss against North Newton on the 23rd. As for West Lafayette, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 13-2 win against Lafayette Central Catholic on the 22nd.
