Gilford dropped their record down to 5-4 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Winnisquam Bears by a score of 6-5. The Golden Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bears earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

As for Winnisquam, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 4-7 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted against Gilford since April 28, 2023.

For Winnisquam's part, John Shea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Winnisquam's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Twombly, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Ben Wood also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
