Basketball Recap: Brown County Comes Up Short

Brown County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They came up short against the Martinsville Artesians, falling 53-27. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 59-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Martinsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jade Meade, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Meade a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ruby Murrell, who posted 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Brown County's loss dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Martinsville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brown County has already played their next match (against North Putnam), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Martinsville will be playing in front of their home fans against Perry Meridian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Martinsville is facing Perry Meridian at the right time seeing as Perry Meridian is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
