Basketball Recap: Milby Falls to Washington in First Game of Season

Milby unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 111-49 loss at the hands of the Washington Eagles. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

Milby's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Delani Pestaina, who posted 14 points, and Manuel Zapata, who earned nine points and seven rebounds. Isaiah Washington was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Coming up, Milby will host Galena Park at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. This will be the Buffs' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Washington, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 84-66 victory against Furr on the 21st.
