Mountain Brook waltzed into their match on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Hueytown Golden Gophers by a score of 48-37. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Golden Gophers are ranked 190th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mountain Brook's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Hueytown, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Mountain Brook and Eastside will round out the year against one another at at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. As for Hueytown, they will finish 2024 at home by hosting Guntersville at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
