Volleyball Recap: Del Rio Comes Up Short

Del Rio lost against Carrizo Springs back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Rams took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.

While Del Rio ultimately came up short, they really made Carrizo Springs work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 29-27, 16-25, 25-19.

Carrizo Springs got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Giada Gonzalez out in front who had 19 assists and eight digs. Another player making a difference was Melanie Davila, who had 12 digs.

Del Rio dropped their record down to 3-2 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Carrizo Springs, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

While Del Rio had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
