Basketball Recap: Marcus Madoski Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Ripon Christian

Ripon Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Ripon proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 60-48 win over the Ripon Christian Knights. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 54-42 victory the Knights walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Ripon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus Madoski out in front who went 8 of 14 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. The matchup was Madoski's 19th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Logan Lefebvre, who went 6 for 15 en route to 15 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Ripon Christian lost, don't look at Jake Vander Veen. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points. Vander Veen is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last 11 games he's played. Mason Tameling was another key player, putting up ten points.

Ripon's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Ripon Christian, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 13-5 record.

When Ripon and Ripon Christian next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Ripon will try to stop Sonora's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Ripon Christian will face off against Escalon and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
