Softball Recap: Elberta's Losing Streak Snapped at 11 Games

Elberta had to endure an 11-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the Foley Lions on Thursday. The Warriors' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last seven games.

Destiny Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Peyton Roberts, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Lynleigh May was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-5.

Elberta's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Foley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elberta will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Robertsdale at 7:00 p.m. on March 11th. As for Foley, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
