Baseball Recap: Staunton Has No Trouble Against Vandalia

Staunton won the last time they faced Vandalia and things went their way on Friday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Vandals 15-5. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Zander Machota, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ethan Sharp, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Staunton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are undefeated (6-0) when they post 11 or more hits.

Staunton now has a winning record of 12-11-1. As for Vandalia, their loss was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Staunton will welcome Civic Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vandalia, they will square off against Dieterich at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
