Baseball Game Preview: North County Raiders vs. Northwest Lions

The North County Raiders will head out to face off against the Northwest Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Wednesday, North County didn't have quite enough to beat Kelly and fell 6-4.

North County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddox Basler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Basler also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Northwest lost 12-3 to Marquette on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for North County, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

North County's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Northwest, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North County continue to outrun the ball?

North County came up short against Northwest when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
